Beauty Product Perfection: Five of the Best Natural Scents

When it comes to modern beauty products, the days of powerfully over-scented products are largely a thing of the past - thank the beauty gods! Today's beauty products are often lightly scented with a number of different natural scents. Here are five of the best natural scents for a wide range of beauty products, and why they have become more prevalent today.

1. Lavender

The calming, soothing properties of lavender are widely known, which makes it a great scent for a number of products ranging from bath salts to oils and lotions. In fact, if you want to make your own after-bath moisturizer, you can drop a few drops of lavender essential oil in a carrier oil such as almond oil or grapeseed oil. Smooth on after a bath in the evening and will it leave your skin silky smooth. The aromatherapy purposes of lavender make it a great aid for getting your beauty sleep.

2. Peppermint

Peppermint is one of those scents that can instantly invigorate and revive you. It has a cooling effect on the body which can relieve sore muscles when used topically. Due to its antimicrobial properties, it can also help freshen breathe and soothe the digestive system.

3. Vanilla

From scents reminiscent of cookies baked fresh from the oven, to deeper and more husky notes, vanilla is a fragrance that is not only natural, but highly versatile. It also works great in combination with other natural scents such as sandalwood (check out our Sandalwood Vanilla Lotion Candle or Aromatherapy Candle), peppermint, and citrus. Vanilla in its most concentrated form has a calming effect and may help ease tension.

4. Citrus

There are a number of citrus scents that are great on their own or excellent counterpoints to others. Lime, lemon, orange, and grapefruit are all delicious scents that have also been shown to provide a boost of energy as well. Citrus oils are used in many of our Veíse products including Your Favorite Body Butter and 2-in-1 Body Lotion Candles. You’ll find them not only in beauty products but cleaners as well.

5. Jasmine

Jasmine is often one of the most-used scents in a wide variety of products for a reason. The heady aroma of this delicate flower is one you will not soon forget. Like lavender, jasmine is sometimes used as a fragrance all its own, and sometimes blended with other scents to create a heady, delicious fragrance.

There are a growing number of perfumes and naturally-scented products on the market, but in a pinch you can make your own. Essential oils are a great way to add a delicious natural scent to all your favorite unscented beauty products.
